Hot or Not Playoffs Update: Onto to Round Two
The winners of Round One are as follows:
Zach Parise (68%)
Marco Scandella (70%)
Erik Gudbranson (73%)
Taylor Pyatt (79%)
Henrik Lundqvist (51%)
Richard Bachman (59%)
John Tavares (53%)
Patrick Sharp (74%)
Gregory Campbell (67%)
Gabriel Landeskog (67%)
Cam Ward (51%)
Derick Brassard (64%)
Adam Henrique (62%)
Jarret Stoll (55%)
Sidney Crosby (64%)
Jonathan Toews (68%)
Things that surprised us...
- the sheer amount of votes for the Lundqvist vs Laich match-up was amazing with the votes being 224 to 221
- not too many surprises except for Sidney Crosby beating out Erik Karlsson, we did not expect that
- also did not expect Landeskog to win by 101 votes over the power of Shea Weber's beard
- Patrick Sharp killed in votes against Cam Fowler...we almost felt sorry for the kid
- the Ward vs Bogosian match-up was intense and we never expected Ward to win out...we must have underestimated the power of Canes fans
- also, Ward won by only 2 votes...TWO VOTES. That's intense.
- 4,353 total votes
Get ready for Round Two and the match-ups to follow...

Tomorrow starts the Second Round of the Hot or Not Playoffs. Then the 2nd will be the start of the One-A-Days.
August is gonna be an exciting month!

Hot or Not Playoffs: Edler vs Brassard
Pictures of Alex Edler had to be one of the hardest things we've ever tried to Google. And we're not even talking about finding attractive pictures, we're talking like pictures at all.
But when we did, we kind of gave up. As for Brassard, all we had to do was search Noodles's secret folder that has the players she's ashamed of liking just for their faces.
-&-
ALEX EDLER

- Swedish
- pretty much the only reason you need really
- is one hell of an underrated defenseman
OR
DERICK BRASSARD

- has the cutest baby-face
- pretty much the only attractive Blue Jacket (pre-Nash trade) who isn't under the age of twelve
- once fought James Neal and dislocated his own shoulder
So, who's it gonna be? Let us know in your votes!

Hot or Not Playoffs: Landeskog vs Weber
Honestly, this is just getting a little too crazy. If this wasn't picked by a random generator we would not believe it ourselves.
We think this one is gonna be a hard one to vote for.
-&-
GABRIEL LANDESKOG

- NO SERIOUSLY THAT IS HIS FACE! HE'S A REAL, ACTUAL HUMAN. YES, WE ARE AS CONFUSED AS YOU ARE ABOUT HOW THIS IS POSSIBLE.
- He's Swedish so yeah, okay

OR
SHEA WEBER

- WHAT?! THIS MAN OF MEN! HE'S A BIG HUNK O' DUDE, MAN-MEAT AT IT'S FINEST.
- Not Swedish but doesn't need to be with a face like that.
- One of the meanest and toughest and bad-assiest defensemen in the league

Hot or Not Playoffs: Price vs Tavares
Hahahahahahahaha, oh this match-up. We have a feeling that Price is going to run away with this but then again, we might be surprised.
Because Tavares has definitely grown into that pretty face of his.
-&-
CAREY PRICE

- thinks he's a cowboy
- has a weird sense of humor
- goaltender
OR
JOHN TAVARES

- has a very serious and deep voice that doesn't make sense with his young face
- extremely talented even on a vaguely crappy team
Who you gonna vote for....

Hot or Not Playoffs: Bachman vs Filppula
Yes, we picked a player from Dallas that has barely played but we think he's too pretty to be ignored.
And Filppula has always been a favorite of ours. Not just because he's Finnish.
-&-
RICHARD BACHMAN

- look at that face!
- played for Team USA in the 2012 World Championships
- he's so pretty and dreamy and yes, he's a goaltender
OR
VALTTERI FILPPULA

- Finnish and blonde, uh, hello

- this could be cheating...

So, which cutie gets your vote today...

Hot or Not Playoffs: Laich vs Lundqvist
If anyone could go against Lundqvist, it would be Laich. We are really glad that they came up against each other.
It's gonna be interesting to see who goes onto the next round.
-&-
HENRIK LUNDQVIST

- really?
- he needs no explanation
OR
BROOKS LAICH

- we Laich everything about him
- okay, that was bad, forgive us and Laich his face

Hot or Not Playoffs: Wingels vs Pyatt
We're pretty sure Wingels is going to get destroyed in this round but like we said before, the match-ups were chosen by a random generator.
Unfortunately, Wingels got a short straw and is up against the NHL player with the prettiest eyes.
-&-
TOMMY WINGELS

- is one of the loudest supporters of 'You Can Play' and we love him for it
- also one of the best looking Sharks which isn't saying much but...
OR
TAYLOR PYATT

- we know that ladies love the eyes but the rest of his face is pleasing as well
- like Wingels, is probably the prettiest player on the Coyotes and that's why we picked him
- yes, we know it's 'former' Coyotes player but when we did the list, he was on the Rangers
So, who is gonna move onto the next round....Tommy or Taylor?

Hot or Not Playoffs: Gudbranson vs Schenn
Honestly, we were sure that this match-up was going to kill Curtis. It still might. That's the beauty of a random generator.
-&-
Erik Gudbranson

- referred to as 'Hot Erik' because well, daaaaaaaayum boy, you stupid good-looking
- is taller than most normal humans
- speaks French and listens to hardcore
- this

OR
Brayden Schenn

- is secretly a fat kid, although his brother is definitely worse
- pretty awesome power forward
- one-half of the best looking brother combo in the NHL
- this artistic rendering of his face

So, what is your choice??? Hot Erik or the other Schenn?

Hot or Not Playoffs: Gagner vs Scandella
Now, you may be asking yourself, "Really? Sam Gagner? Wow, no" or "Uh, Scandella? Who the eff is that?" But before you judge, let us convince you that these are both solid choices.
Because they really, really are.
-&-
SAM GAGNER

- has grown up into a man-face right before our eyes, no literally, look at that face
- everyone remembers his historic eight point night, duh
OR
MARCO SCANDELLA

- defenseman for the Minnesota Wild
- played on Team Canada in the 2010 WJC
Okay, now it's time to vote...who will you choose to continue onto the next round...

Hot or Not Playoffs: Lecavalier vs Parise
Voting for this round will go until every single match-up has been promoted and voted on.
Today is the first one. You will be asked to vote for either Zach Parise or Vincent Lecavalier.
All we are gonna do is post a picture of the players with random 'facts' that we know about them followed by the poll.
Let's get started, huh?
-&-
This will be dubbed BATTLE OF THE VINNYs
VINCENT LECAVALIER

- is still a little heartbroken after Brad Richards was traded and then Martin St. Louis left him for a younger dude
- was named captain of the Tampa Bay Lightning twice
- has a word named after him, courtesy of us...a Vinny
OR
ZACH PARISE

- shockingly, looks good in whatever color jersey he chooses to wear
- prettiest smile, probably ever
- everyone loves him
- this

So, who is it going to be? The original Vinny or the up-and-coming 'Vinny'. They both have hearts across the North Americas beating like crazy when they smile.

Vacation!
So, it's that time of year again. This is when we like to take a week off and relax and not have to think about hockey.
It usually works for about two days and then we're right back on NHL.com and refreshing it like every minute. But we're taking a week break from blogging starting tomorrow and then we're gonna be back with a vengeance.
We will still be reading our emails and stuff so if anything interesting happens in the hockey world, let us know.
Also, on July 15th we will be starting the First Official Hot or Not: Hockey Players of THJ.
And, if you would like to help us out with the One-A-Days that start August 1st then please get in touch with us and let us know which team and we will be updating this post with names and teams.
First come and first serve, ladies!

Hot or Not Playoffs: THJ Version
We've been thinking about doing this kind of competition for a while now and have finally decided on the right way of doing this.
Each day starting July 8th, we will be asking you to vote on who you think is the hotter of two hockey players.
It's like the Stanley Cup Playoffs of hot hockey players or something. We even have a bracket set up.
Each day will have the match-up and then you have to vote for who you like better. The first round will take almost forever to do but once that's over, things will move along quicker.
The first round will take almost the whole month to complete with two players a day and sixteen match-ups.
Then the second round the week after and so on.
We will have a little expose on each guy for the first week so you know who you're voting for and what they look like and all that junk.
Here is the bracket so you know what you're getting into. We picked a player from each team after a lot of debating and discussion and honestly, some argument but not too much.

Then we had to pick a 'wild card' from each conference. The players we chose were still on their teams (before July 1st) when we picked them so we're gonna keep it that way.
The winner of the Playoffs will be crowned Summer 2012's Hottest Hockey Player and we will feature him in almost everything we do throughout the season.
If you don't like who we chose, then pick the other guy against him. We apologize for not picking all of your favorites but we did our best.
But get your vote in and get your favorite player/boy-toy/whatever into the Hockey Junkies Hall of Hotness Fame. Or something like that.
So breakdown of rules/schedule:
1. Voting begins immediately on July 15th. It will be between two players.
2. Rounds end on midnight the day after the last match-up is announced.
There will be a sidebar with a link to the voting page that we will be using coming up by the 15th.
We hope this will be a welcome distraction for the rest of boring July and August. If you have any questions, let us know!

Well, That Was Interesting
In a turn of events that even we would not have predicted, the Minnesota Wild have signed both prized free agents this summer: Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.

(Zach looks super tan in this, doesn't he?)
We were not surprised about the Parise signing in Minnesota. It makes a hell of a lot of sense and you could tell that he was going to go.
As for Suter signing anywhere but in Nashville, we were kinda surprised. The fact that he left Shea Weber is awful. Defense partners should never break up like that. It makes us sad.
But seriously, the Wild. It's awesome for them because maybe now people outside the state of Minnesota will actually take notice of a team that's been good but not great. And these signings have the potential to take them that extra step into great.
We're excited for the team and for Parise and Suter. And apparently so is NHL.com to sell some jerseys...
We're also super pumped that the Watch is over because it was getting ridiculous after only four days.

Parise-Watch & Suter-Watch
Is anyone as sick of people talking about where Zach Parise and Ryan Suter will be signing as we are?
Because it's becoming a little too much.
They're making major life decisions and have to decide what is best for them and their family. This doesn't take two seconds and when they have the luxury of time and lots of money, it's gonna take some time.
Anyway, we're sick of it all. So we were thinking of listing some of the things that we think is more interesting than all of this talk of where these two prized free agents will be going.
We're calling this post...
THINGS THAT ARE MORE INTERESTING THAN PARISE-SUTER WATCH!
- getting our upper-lips waxed

- the 1-3-1 system
- 'Fifty Shades of Grey'

- Rob Pattinson's acting

- the 'Twilight' books
- a Jonathan Toews interview about how much he loves fishing

- the plot of 'Magic Mike'

(wait, there's a plot???)
- the hockey robot that is Sidney Crosby
- Skrillex
- the endless stories and useless facts from Pierre McGuire

- One Direction
- homework and chores, combined, all day every day
- watching Grandma knit

- the five-hundredth season of 'Jersey Shore'
- one-word press conferences by John Tortorella

If you have any that could be added to this list, let us know. But as you can see, there are a lot of things that are more interesting right now than Parise-Suter Watch.
