Well, That Was Interesting

In a turn of events that even we would not have predicted, the Minnesota Wild have signed both prized free agents this summer: Zach Parise and Ryan Suter.

(Zach looks super tan in this, doesn't he?)

We were not surprised about the Parise signing in Minnesota. It makes a hell of a lot of sense and you could tell that he was going to go.

As for Suter signing anywhere but in Nashville, we were kinda surprised. The fact that he left Shea Weber is awful. Defense partners should never break up like that. It makes us sad.

But seriously, the Wild. It's awesome for them because maybe now people outside the state of Minnesota will actually take notice of a team that's been good but not great. And these signings have the potential to take them that extra step into great.

We're excited for the team and for Parise and Suter. And apparently so is NHL.com to sell some jerseys...

We're also super pumped that the Watch is over because it was getting ridiculous after only four days.

I agree about being glad that this didn't drag out too long. It's not often that players are resistant to Lou's Jedi mind tricks.

However, insert hopeless and sad-kicked-puppy face here.

There's a text message going around here that shows a pic of Zach scoring in the playoffs this year with the caption "May 2012" next to a pic of Zach golfing with the caption "May 2013-2025." The big question is: is this signing (along with his boy Suter) a total game changer?
