2012 Playoffs: Quarterfinals Day Seven

#3 Florida Panthers / #6 New Jersey Devils

Panthers lead series 2-1 after a 4-3 win in New Jersey

Within ten minutes of the first period, the Devils were up 3-0, the Devils were dominating everything and Jose Theodore was pulled. It did not look good for the Panthers.

But before the first was over, the Panthers had clawed back to make it a 3-2 game. Interesting you say.

Wait for it.....

Mike Weaver and Brian Campbell scored for the Panthers to take the lead and held onto it to win the game.

#4 Nashville Predators / #5 Detroit Red Wings

Predators lead series 3-1 after a 3-1 win in Detroit

It was nothing-nothing for the first two periods but that doesn't mean that stuff wasn't happening because it definitely was.

This has to be our favorite series to watch because both teams play hard and relatively clean. The goaltenders are making some amazing saves. And the unlikeliest players are scoring.

For example, Gabriel Bourque has three goals in the series. Kevin Klein, a defenseman, has two and he only scored four in 66 regular season games. The Red Wings have contributions from every line.

It's a great series and you shouldn't miss it.

#3 Phoenix Coyotes / #6 Chicago Blackhawks

Coyotes lead series 2-1 after a 3-2 OT win

Every single game has gone to overtime and we are not amused. First, these games go way past out bedtimes. Second, they give us hypertension. Third, overtime in the playoffs is the worst.

The Hawks were without Andrew Shaw who was suspended for three games for his interference on Mike Smith in Game Two.

The biggest story to come out of this game was the Raffi Torres hit. It was brutal and unnecessary and it was awful to watch. The fact that the referees missed it just blows our minds.

The other story was the dominance of Rostislav Klesla in this game. He had a hand in all of the goals, including the overtime winner by Mikkel Boedker. He was all over the scoresheet and it made a difference for the Coyotes.

Thank you for giving Rusty's ace performance equal coverage with the Torres hit. It's like the whole world forgot that a hockey game still took place while we were worrying about Hossa. Valid, but unfortunate all around.
