The score was 8-4 and Sam Gagner had four goals and four assists.
Yes, that's eight freaking points. It was a magical night and one that we were happy we got to witness on our TVs.
He tied Gretzky and Coffey with eight points in one game as well.
It was also pretty neat to see how many people were also excited about seeing history.
Two things we saw on Twitter was James Duthie pointing out that Taylor Hall had a career-best four point night and it was overshadowed by Gagner's amazing night.
And Gretzky and Coffey texting Gagner after his night. We're sure he was almost as stoked to see those texts as getting the points.

I keep reading stuff today about how apparently some of the Hawks congratulated him after the game and people were all up in arms. Like Jamie Shalley from XMHome Ice was saying to save your sportsmanship for the golf course. I seriously don't get it. So it's better to be an asshole? God forbid you say something good. I don't think that in ANY way means "I am fine that we played like shit! That was a great game!" I don't think those 2 are related at all. Kept reading how the coach needed to address this. I am baffled. I guess I felt good knowing that my second favorite team isn't made up of dickheads. But it sounds like they were NOT ok in the room with what happened. So you say something nice and you make the news for that because it's bad? I give up.
Dan Boyle's permabeard leapt up into his eyes, making him think that he was shooting at the opposing net. It's the best excuse I can think of for him!
@Esbee: right on. This is hockey, not basketball, where no one can appreciate a good performance unless it comes from someone with a matching jersey...and even then, not so much. Doesn't our sport have a TROPHY for sportsmanship? Doesn't that mean it is celebrated and encouraged? It's utter bullshit to insinuate otherwise.
I worded something unclearly but yeah. The part I said about it not being ok in the room...I meant the loss not the congratulations. i.e. anyone that was criticizing the players for doing it acting like that somehow made them ok with the loss is full of crap.
I actually am baffled a bit by hockey sometimes. I grew up on little league baseball and am expecting handshake lines!

I tell you, he's addicted to Funions and needs to put down Burnzie's bong stat. This is on top of the fact that he's just a natural-born spazz. He wants to go grab a tamale tomorrow for lunch but I'm like "oh HELL no"... I told him all bets are OFF and this time it's for REAL.
