- The Panthers are still on the hunt for a coach and now that Tallon is back from Europe (scouting and Worlds) then they can go at it seriously now.
- Here's a little story about Kevin Bieksa's personal Conference Finals. He had to move during the play offs. Why would anyone want to do that? Jeez.
- Manny Malholtra has been cleared for practice and is close to coming back. He will not play in Game One (so far as we know) but he's very close to playing.
- Defenseman Chris Pronger is unsure when his injuries will be healed enough to begin training and playing for next season.
- Mikael Granlund's lacrosse-style goal from the IIHF World Championships has been commemorated in Finland on a postage stamp. That's completely awesome!
- As you probably already know, Nathan Horton was fined for spraying fans from a water bottle after Game Six when the Bruins lost to the Lightning.
- Sidney Crosby's vacation is over and he will now be re-evaluated by a concussion specialist to see where he is in his recovery.
A whole bunch of signings happened:
- Edmonton Oilers signed Ryan Jones to a 2-year deal
- St. Louis Blues signed Patrik Berglund to a 2-year extension
- Florida Panthers signed Jack Skille to a 2-year extension as well
- Casey Cizikas signed an entry-level contract with the New York Islanders
Winnipeg News:
- The deal is in place to move the Thrashers to Winnipeg. It is pending until the NHL Board of Governors votes to approve/deny.
- The Manitoba Moose have been dissolved so far and it is pending what happens and where they will go when the NHL moves into town.
- Andrew Ladd was asked about all of this.
- And now Quebec City wants a team.
- Congratulations to the Saint John Sea Dogs for winning the Memorial Cup. It is the first one won by any team in the Maritimes.

So bummed now I have one less team within driving distance.
Who cares that the tickets were cheaper than going to an IMAX movie? Who cares that people didn't even know that they existed? Who cares that the visiting team had more fans there that the Thrashers? Now I will have to drive further to see the Pens when they come down South. Darn you Winnipeg, darn you.
Kevin Dineen will be named the Panters new head coach.

Re Kevin Bieksa's moving woes: He plays for the Canucks - ergo, he's a nincompoop. He's hot from some angles and every now and then he does something awesome on the ice, but he's still a nincompoop. That's why he picked the playoffs to move to his new trailer.
Re Manny Malhotra: Nothing short of miraculous that this man is practicing and practicing hard, at that. He's too classy to be playing for the Canucks. They don't deserve him. Just like the Sharks can suck it some more for letting him go.
Re Winnipeg getting back its Jets and Quebec wanting back les Nordiques: Both these cities never should have lost their teams in the first place. I suppose something can be learned from this - and thankfully the Avs are thriving in Denver - but it still stings for both worthy, hockey-mad communities to have lost their franchises. Scarlett: I'm sorry you're losing your Thrashers. It's loyal fans like yourself who are of course caught up in all the lame business and political drama that emanates from (predictably) failed relocation experiments.
And congrats to the Sea Dogs! Well played! :)
Well they are not my true love but they were enough to help me forget that I live many hours away from any other team...now I guess I'll have to drive to Nashville to see the Pens come to town.
But very happy for Canada to get the Jets(hopefully) back and for the boys to have people to play for again.
Now I guess I'll be roadtripping to all the Pens games south of the mason-dixon line.... if anyone gets down this direction for a game you know where to find me!
In defense of Thrashers fans...I was in ATL a couple of years ago to visit a friend (it was in July when there is no hockey but, we did go to a Braves game) & there was absolutely NO advertising of any kind for the Thrashers. It was like they didn't even exist. Meanwhile, everywhere we went it was like someone puked Matt Ryan (Falcons) & Braves. So, the fans can't really be blamed here because it's hard to garner interest in something when the front office treats it like the redheaded step child.
I'd also like to send my condolences to our Thrashers fans here (Susanne, Tally & all the others). I can't even fathom what y'all are going through right now. Keep your heads up & please don't stop being fans of the wonderful sport of hockey.
Now that this is all over I do hope all the name calling & harsh words will stop. The important thing to remember is we're all hockey fans & some of are brethren & sistren (yes, it's a real word) are heart broken right now. They could use some support, a shoulder to cry on, & possibly someone to remove all the sharp objects & shoelaces from their homes. So, please end all the hate & start with the hugs.
@Susanne, Tally, all the other Thrashers fans: Now is the time when I try & sell you on the joys of cheering for the hot mess that is the Stars. Before y'all say "NO" we do have a connection to the Thrashers in Kari. Y'all remember Kari, don't you...giant, bendy, cute as a button, Finnish :o).
