Carey Price vs Tim Thomas
definitely not as awesome as the DiPietro/Johnson fight from last week but still, it's impressive anyway
Injury Front:
- Chris Drury will miss about 6 weeks with a knee injury
- Evgeni Malkin will have knee surgery tomorrow and will be out for six months. We can't even talk about this right now.
- Daniel Alfredsson is out indefinitely because his team sucks or an undisclosed back injury, they're basically the same.
- Alex Tanguay is out for the Flames with a neck strain.
Suspensions:
- Anton Volchenkov received a three-gamer for a hit to the head of Zach Boychuk.
- Matt Cooke received a four-gamer for his hit to Fedor Tyutin.
Trades:
- The Anaheim Ducks traded Joffrey Lupul, defense prospect Jake Gardiner and a fourth-round pick in the 2013 draft for Francois Beauchemin.
- The Chicago Blackhawks acquired Michael Frolik and goaltender prospect Alexander Salak from Florida for Jack Skille, Hugh Jessiman and David Pacan.

As much as I love the veritable cornucopia of brutality that was last night's game, the goalie fight left a little to be desired. But I'll take it!! Nothing for 7 years and then 2 in a week? The Awesome Apocalypse must be upon us!!
The Skille deal--while making sense on paper--BREAKS MY GODDAMN HEART. And we will rue it, yet again. Dale Tallon you shifty bastard...
Geno--supersadface. Superdupersadface.
Just to update everyone on Burrito, he had surgery to fix his broken orbital bone yesterday. Injuries suck :o(!
@Jennifer: Agree about the latest goalie bitchslap. Seeing Tim Thomas' baldspot spinning around Carey Price doesn't exactly top my list of turn-ons, but I have to admit I was wrong when I called him boring. I have accused him of being a bore on many occasions, so I'll take that back now.
Also - I thought of you when the Skille trade news broke. It's the meth and peyote talking. Hang in there.
@Shanny: Didn't realize the break was that bad. :( Will he need a glass eye? I hope he gets to wear a sexy eye patch. He's already down with blindfolds, so...
awwwww Mouthy....is there a heart underneath all that jetpuff? don't worry...I won't tell anybody. Yeah it kinda felt like I got broke up with--Lips McGee gone, his turbine legs have scuttled him off to the land of thongthongthonggggs...sigh.
Burrito told the Hawks ESPN guy "Five years one good one finally landed"...can you imagine those poor nurses he was chasing? He's so gonna be that guy in the Hockey Nursing Home pushing his walker 'accidently' into the unsuspecting rumps of the Nurse Brittanys and Candy Striper Courtneys.
@MG: You read my mind! When I heard about Burrito's surgery I thought, "I wonder if he's gonna wear an eye patch? That could be hot."
@Jennifer: Do you need me to talk you down? I can give you the "you can do so much better than him" speech. Just let me know :o)

Word on the broadcast tonight was Burrito will be out 3-4 weeks. As mentioned injuries suck :o(!
While the actual "fight" itself (between Timmy & Carey) was a bit of a let down (would LOVED to have seen Timmy land a good left hook) the crowd at the TD Garden (mayself included) lost our collective minds when we saw Timmy skating down the ice. It was like witnessing the ulimate male-bonding moment or something. And despite all the fights & penalty minutes there was still a smidge of respect shown between the teams - unlike the malicious headhunting seen in last night's Pens/Isles game last night, but I suppose that rant is best left for another post.
