Let's Go Pens: Semi-Finals Edition

As most of you know, we are Penguins fans.

And our team is playing tonight in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals of the playoffs.

Bam. We are excited.

We are also music fans. Noodles and LeTude are going to the Bamboozle Music Festival in New Jersey today.

(Another reason to go is to get Noodles out of town because a certain WBS Penguin was called up and we can't have another restraining order out against her.) (That last sentence was a complete joke, well, not complete but still...)

We're going to let Henrik have a little fun with the blog. If she remebers because she has the memory of a goldfish. If she forgets, we always have Macke who posts the best stuff.

Post Quarter and Pre-Semi Stanley Cup Playoffs

4. Pittsburgh Penguins / 8. Montreal Canadiens

Penguins beat Senators in the series 4-2
Canadiens beat Capitals in the series 4-3

It was a hot Halak that downed the powerhouse Capitals. Pundits are stunned that the Caps were ousted in the Quarterfinals.

Um, RJ Umberger called it.

And speaking of Pittsburgh, that's who the Habs get to play as a reward for going to the semi-finals.

This season we aren't making predictions because we are superstitious. But we know one person in our house who is pumped for this series. And she won't stop wearing her Carey Price t-shirt...

It's going to be nice to see the Penguins have home ice in the whole Eastern Conference. Who would have thought that would have happened?

-&-

6. Boston Bruins / 7. Philadelphia Flyers

Bruins beat Sabres in the series 4-2
Flyers beat the Devils in the series 4-1

The Bruins came out and got scoring from unlikely sources. They were supposed to be beatable without Marc Savard in their line-up. Um, guess again.

And now Marc Savard is roaring to come back.

This series is going to be intense.

Philly is banged up so they're going to be meaner than before. If they're going down, they're going to take a few Bruins with them. It's going to be interesting to see how the Flyers perform without Gagner, Carter and Laperriere.

1. San Jose Sharks / 5. Detroit Red Wings

Sharks win series over Avalanche 4-2
Red Wings win in seven games against the Coyotes

Sharks fans are ecstatic that their team made it into the second round of the playoffs. We're sad that it had to be through the Avs. We always liked the plucky underdogs.

Joe Pavelski is going to be a force against the Wings, he was almost unstoppable in the series against the Avs.

And now, the Wings. They were wishy-washy through six games, letting the Coyotes beat them. But when it came down to game seven, wow was it a different team. Game seven showed hockey fans what it is like to be experienced in an elimination game. They were ridiculous.

We have no idea who is going to win this round. At all.

-&-

2. Chicago Blackhawks / 3. Vancouver Canucks

Hawks won series 4-2 against the Predators
Canucks won series 4-2 against the Kings

Do you remember the series last season? Ridiculous.

Coach Q has already moved Byfuglien to the wing for the purpose of crashing into Luongo. Like last post-season.

Willie Mitchell will probably not be back for some time to call out Patrick Kane again.

But Daniel/Henrik Sedin have been out of this universe this season. Especially Henrik. We think Daniel's just going along with the ride.

Get ready for the roughstuff.

2010 Playoffs: Day Fifteen

1. Washington Capitals / 8. Montreal Canadiens

Habs win the series in game seven with a score of 2-1

Noodles keeps parading around the house and yelling, "I CALLED IT!" Because she told everyone that the Habs would win in seven.

We're stunned that they won.

But everyone knew that it would come down to Halak.

He was the backbone of the Habs series win.

The game-winning goal was scored by Dominic Moore.

Yeah, an unlikely but not unwelcome source.

And now the Caps are left with questions in the too long offseason.

The World Championships are being announced and Matt Duchene will be playing for the Canadians. Article.

Team USA also named players to it's roster.

-&-

Marc Savard will be ready to play in the next round. He's been cleared for everything.

-&-

And yet another article that furthers the myth of Captain Serious. He plays beyond his years...yeah, we knew that.

-&-

The Canadiens called up PK Subban out of necessity.

Then he had a hand in the game-winning goal. Niiiice.

-&-

The injuries just keep piling up for the Flyers.

Now, Ian Laperriere will be out for the remainder of the playoffs with a concussion and a brain contusion after taking a slapshot off the face.

Unreal.

Here's a list of the unrestricted free agents based on talents/what they give to a team.

Courtesy of TSN.ca of course.

And this video sent to us by Joann Ma

Um, forgot where I was for a minute...What? I can't think with that on my laptop screen.

2010 Playoffs: Day Fourteen

4. Phoenix Coyotes / 5. Detroit Red Wings

Wings win series 4-3 after a 6-1 win in Phoenix

The first of two game sevens this round.

And you could definitely tell who was the more experienced team in game sevens.

You can thank Nick Lidstrom for that. He was all over the place.

It must be easy being a Wings fan. Their team just doesn't know what it means to lose.

2010 Playoffs: Day Thirteen

3. Buffalo Sabres / 6. Boston Bruins

Bruins win series 4-2 after a 4-3 win

Looks like the Big Bad Bruins are officially here. And that's without Marc Savard.

Ryan Miller did his best to keep the Sabres in it but David Krejci was all over his shit in the game.

This was a series that we thought could go either way and it's kind of amusing to see how non-Sabres fans are surprised that they couldn't generate offense.

Just ask our resident Sabres expert, LeTude.

-&-

1. Washington Capitals / 8. Montreal Canadiens

Series tied 3-3 after a 4-1 win in Montreal

Yet again, Jaroslav Halak is the story of the game. He was unreal the whole game.

And Mike Cammalleri is scoring goals like it's life-or-death.

Montreal's hot-n-cold fanbase is now singing the praises for Halak.

And they better because he's truly the sole reason that a game seven is being played.

Game seven should be a good one.

-&-

2. Chicago Blackhawks / 7. Nashville Predators

Hawks win series 4-2 after a 5-3 win in Smashville

The Hawks top line was dominant again which is a reason why they advanced.

Both teams had to kill off successive penalties with the game on the line. The shot block by Brent Seabrook on Shea Weber was impressive.

We were fearful for his entire being when he blocked that shot on the powerplay.

And then the weird bouncy goal from Kane...strange.

2010 Playoffs: Day Twelve

4. Phoenix Coyotes / 5. Detroit Red Wings

Phoenix sets up a game seven with a 5-2 win in Detroit

Based on the previous game, many thought that the series was over.

But, like every other game, the Coyotes just wouldn't let it happen. They refused to lose.

Five different players scored to give them the win.

-&-

3. Vancouver Canucks / 6. Los Angeles Kings

Canucks clinch series 4-2 with a 4-2 win in LA

Daniel Sedin broke the hearts of Kings fans everywhere with his game-winning goal from the wing.

Bastard.

And Luongo made his best save of the series.

The Kings put their best effort in the game but it just wasn't enough.

2010 Playoffs: Day Eleven

2. Chicago Blackhawks / 7. Nashville Predators

Hawks lead series 3-2 after a 5-4 win in overtime

Niemi ate the puck

Why does Captain Toews know where it is immediately? He was probably pissed off at the puck for taking up his precious time.

And Patrick Kane scored shorthanded to force overtime

Then Marian Hossa ended the world by scoring a beautiful goal in overtime

Just is case you were wondering, he will not be suspended by the league for the push/hit on Dan Hamhuis...article.

-&-

4. Pittsburgh Penguins / 5. Ottawa Senators

Pens eliminate the Sens in overtime with a 4-3 win

The Penguins were down 3-0 going into the 2nd period and that was when Matt Cooke decided to get on the scoreboard for something other than a penalty.

Matt Cullen, Daniel Alfredsson and Chris Neil all scored, uh, go figure.

Cullen's breakaway goal was insane.

And Pascal Dupuis was in the right place at the right time, receiving a Sidney Crosby pass, oh, wait, what? It was a pass from Jordan Staal? Don't believe you, that was such a Sid pass.

-&-

1. San Jose Sharks / 8. Colorado Avalanche

Sharks win series 4-2 after a 5-2 win in Colorado

We are still sore from this series.

Joe Pavelski scored like 19 million goals this series.

The Avalanche tried to even the series but the Sharks were too determined to lose.
