The Chicago Blackhawks

Wow! What a year for our favorite group of Chicago boys fresh out of Canada! (With the exception of Patrick Kane, Dustin Byfuglien, Adam Burish, and a few other Americans.)

As everybody knows, the Blackhawks took home the Stanley Cup in the 2010 season! It was definitely the peak of what has been a quickly escalating hype for hockey in Chicago, after a drought that lasted about 40 years. The Blackhawks had the perfect team. All great guys with senses of humor, big hearts, and a real passion for the game and their teammates. As we all know, though, some things are just too good to be true.

Stan Bowman shocked hockey fans all over Chicago- and all over the country- when he abruptly split up what was the majority of the Blackhawks, leaving fans everywhere grieving and looking for answers. It was almost as shocking as the Hills finale.

Key players that the Blackhawks lost:

-Brent Sopel (Atlanta)
-Andrew Ladd (Atlanta)
-Kris Versteeg (Toronto)
-Dustin Byfuglien (Atlanta)
-Adam Burish (Dallas)
-Colin Fraser (Edmonton)
-Ben Eager (Atlanta)

Niklas Hjalmarsson gave us all a scare when he was almost traded to San Jose, but Stan Bowman surprised all of us by actually showing some heart and matching their offer. So he does have a soul, after all.

Big signings: Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are both signed for 5 year contracts, (Thank God) Duncan Keith is signed for 12 years, and Marian Hossa is signed for a whopping 13 years with the Chicago Blackhawks, all as of the 2010 season.

Random notes:
-Patrick Kane grew a mullet during the playoffs, turning off teenage girls all over Chicago. We are all hoping for a haircut, so he can regain his cuteness by the time the blackhawks convention rolls around!

-Patrick sharp won the sexiest athlete in Chicago, which doesn't surprise most of us, considering his clean cut appearance and overall sexiness!

-Captain serious is still, well captain serious, though he is showing some cute sense of humor now and then!

-Niklas Hjalmarsson has become a new fan favorite for Chicago girls, and we should all keep an eye on him. He is destined for great things, and he is also very hot.

We all thought that Patty Kane learned his lesson last year with the cab driver incident, but he hasn't failed to surprise us again. Pictures of Kane, Madden, and Versteeg shirtless in a limo with some chicks from Vancouver were leaked, but the organization dealed with it in a very professional way and didn't let much slip to the media.

Patrick Kane also gave a VERY drunk speech at the Stanley cup parade in Chicago, and Versteeg rapped to the crowd of roughly 2 million. RIP Versteeg, we will miss your rapping and energy on and off the ice.

After Game 6 vs. Philly, Adam Burish quoted, "I think Chris Pronger is the biggest idiot in the league," Burish said. "I can't stand him one bit. I hope I never have to see him again. If I see him, I'll punch him." RIP Burish, we will miss your big mouth and toughness.

Where does this leave us?
The biggest question that has been keeping all Hawks fans up at night this offseason is "Will there be a repeat?". Our three toughest players are gone, along with key scorers, defenseman, and leaders. The Blackhawks didn't gain any really big names, and now we all wonder if Stan Bowman really did screw us over.

Other problems: The bandwagon fans of Chicago. THEY ARE EVERYWHERE!

The hotness level of the Blackhawks would definitely be a 10 out of 10. With the dynamic duo of Kane and Toews, and sexiest athlete Patrick Sharp, and a little Niklas Hjalmarsson thrown in on the side, the hawks can definitely take the gold in this category.

I want to thank my best friend Maggie K. for helping me with ideas for this!

It should be an interesting season, as no one really knows what can happen at this point. What I do know, though, is that the Blawkhawks never fail to surprise us! GO HAWKS!
