2010 Playoffs: Day Five

4. Phoenix Coyotes / 5. Detroit Red Wings

Coyotes regain the series lead with a 4-2 win in Detroit

The big story from this game is Shane Doan. He was injured after tripping over Detroit goaltender Howard and smashing into the boards.

But that didn't stop the Coyotes from winning. It seems like they just can't be brought down.

2. New Jersey Devils / 7. Philadelphia Flyers

Flyers lead the series 2-1 after a 3-2 overtime win

An unexpected hero emerged in overtime.

Marty Brodeur did it all. It was his team that failed him.

And the Flyers still have his number.

-&-

4. Pittsburgh Penguins / 5. Ottawa Senators

Pens lead series after a 4-2 win in Ottawa

Still stunned Ponikarovsky scored.

And Malkin scored a pretty goal. And Grandpa Guerin scored on a breakaway.

Then Captain decided to steal the show and get the game-winner.

Of course.

-&-

2. Chicago Blackhawks / 7. Nashville Predators

Hawks even the series 1-1 after a 2-0 shutout win by Niemi

This series may be the most evenly matched. Neither team really outplays the other in long periods.

So it will come down to the Battle Of The Finnish Goalies.

And Niemi won this round.

We were impressed.

-&-

1. San Jose Sharks / 8. Colorado Avalanche

Avs lead series 2-1 after a stunning loss for the Sharks in OT

Craig Anderson.

We are unworthy of you and your 50 save shutout.

The Sharks threw everything they had at him but it wasn't enough.

And just as we were getting settled into the living room for a long overtime, Ryan O'Reilly/Dan Boyle scored to win it for the Avs.

I must know what y'all think about Kane's playoff mullet: pass or fail?

I am loving these playoffs. They're just so exciting.
I hope Doan is allright, I mean he like did a flip and landed hard against the boards.

I would rather the Devils won then Philly, and Carcillo is a tool. Don Cherry pointed out on HNIC that he totally did a dive and basically called him an idiot and an insult to hockey (maybe I'm stretching it a little ;p).

I'd like to point out the nice battle that Talbo did all the way down the ice in order to feed the puck to Malks. MaxTal may not have had that great of a season this year but he always kicks it into high gear in the playoffs.

Kane's playoff mullet...so far it is a fail. I mean a lot of guys struggle with the beard and his mullet is pretty lame. I don't care though as long as it works and the Hawks go as far as possible (until the Pens beat them in the finals). [knocks on wood]

coughchokerscough. Although in all honesty Anderson rocked this game, and that Boyle goal was such a fluke.

News Flash:

I just found out that somebody who works at my company has a doctor who works for the Avalanche.

Translation: Said doctor gets to look at the Avalanche in various states of nekkidness and he gets to put gobs of Neosporin and Spongebob bandaids on their owies. Me so jealous.

Kewlest job ever? Doctor Feelgood... ;)

Kane's playoff mullet: mostly Fail.

Sure, it's funny, but you're supposed to (try to) grow a beard!

There's a really good video at the Hawks website in which they interview the team about it. http://blackhawks.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=894&id=66755

And I agree with EHisCDN that Carcillo is a tool. Faking the high stick during Sunday's game was an embarrassment to his team and to hockey.

Hahaha…that video is great. I love the comment about how Sharp was to scared to keep his mullet because he’s cute & all.

As for P. Kane’s hair…I’m gonna have to give it a fail. I’m from the dirty, dirty south & I’ve seen women with better mullets.
