The Only Time We've Ever Felt Bad For Eric Staal

Joni Pitkanen couldn't control his feet and cut his captain in the cheek with the blade of his skate. On top of that, he was high-sticked twice and already bloodied.

Then he was nailed in the junk by a stick. Oh, and then he scored. What a game.

Trade News:

- Niclas Wallin could go to the Sharks.

- Bruins are trying to get rid of Michael Ryder.

- Brendan Witt was placed on waivers.

- And Bob McKenzie talks about why Ray Whitney may think he's worth more than what teams want to pay for him.

-&-

Jonathan Toews, what a pass sir.

Noodles weeped a little after seeing that.

-&-

The Columbus Blue Jackets fired head coach Ken Hitchcock. In his place is Claude Noel.

We didn't realize that they were doing that bad? Go us for not paying attention.

-&-

Mike Komisarek is officially out of the Olympics. That makes two American defensemen who need replaced.

Good job, Brian Burke.

-&-

Chris Kunitz will be back soon.

For some reason, we love him. A lot. And we can't wait to see him back.

-&-

And the Pittsburgh Penguins held their annual Children's Practice and Party Event.

@EHisCDN - Why yes, I thought that comment could be taken a few different ways...lol!

Color me completely beside myself that Kovy went to the Devils...only because now I may have to go back to my trashy romance sagas now that this one is over!

So Ilya's a Devil now. Why does that just seem so appropriate?
So far this has not been Eric's best year in terms of personal safety, one hopes he survives the season.
And I'm with everyone who thinks Scuderi should be on Team USA! What's with choosing this Whitney guy anyway?
