USA Camp Pictures!

Reader Ginahipal89 has yet again done amazing work for The Hockey Junkies. When we can't get somewhere in the Illinois/Chicagoland area, we know we can depend on her to get us the dirt.

We hope that everyone loves the pictures and recap like we did.

USA Olympic Hockey Camp

I was able to go to the USA camp this week that was in Chicago (the suburbs, actually). It was supposed to start at 10:15, but traffic was bad, go figure, so the boys were late. I had a prime spot at the rink. I was by the door that they all walked in from, and might I say, the summer has done them good. Patrick Kane was the only one wearing a suit when they arrived, that’s because he did his press conference to apologize for being arrested and such after.

They had three versions of the USA jersey, and they were pretty cool.

They separated them into 2 groups, and they came out a group at a time and practiced. It was awesome

So when they announced group one, most people there cheered for everyone, when Kane came out, a few boos, but mostly cheers, because its Chicago, and we could really care less about what he did. When Brian Rafalski came out, poor guy, he got booed because he plays for Detroit, and so OF COURSE the “De-troit Sucks” chant started. Its not very classy, but hey mostly everyone there was in Hawks gear.
Oh! And Chris Chelios is an assistant coach, but he was doing drills with the guys… not in pads or anything, but really, please stop that.

So they practiced for about an hour, and then when they were done, Patrick Kane gave an extra one of his hockey sticks to some kids behind the glass… bad idea there Kaner. The kids got into a little tug-of-war over it, and it was great, it went on for a good 5 minutes before a guy came and took the stick then gave it to one little boy.

Then group 2 came out and practice. Lots of people left after group 1, because group 1 had Kane and Byfuglien, and that’s probably the only reason some people were there. Lame. But I got some better pictures after that.
And I had no idea how fast T.J. Oshie was. Oh my. He’s on my watch list for this year! Hockey season needs to get here faster, after being at camp, I’m missing it more!

& I took way too many pictures to show you all, but here are some of the players… enjoy!

I was there, too, on both days and it was completely awesome. I loved watching our boys, and they were super nice to the fans waiting for them when they got off the ice.

Ginahipal89, your pictures are great. My peeps were standing over by the on/off door to the ice the second day and got every single player to sign their USA hockey jerseys...they were so excited.

Kaner threw a stick the second day, as well, and that was another five minute riot...man, who knew kids could get soooo ugly about a stick :)

I'm sooo jealous! What a great time it must have been. And to see all those top hockey players together at one time - truly a amazing experience. Thanks for the recap and photos!
